WH Smith GRRRRRRR

Made a scene in WH Smith on Tuesday, and have waged an internet war on them....LOL
I went into one of their stores in Loughborough the other day, and right at the front of the store, at child level and next to children's chart videos was a stand full of what I deem to be Adult 18+magazines! I spoke to the store manager to ask that it be moved, and he said I had to contact head office about it (a "computer says no" moment, believe me) I was appalled...children have come into contact with enough unsuitable material every day...this really took the biscuit for me...
I want my boys growing up to believe a womans body is beautiful and (and I quote a good friend here) "it's not the exposed breasts that's the problem it's the connotations behind it, if our boys get used to seeing images like that they think it's right and normal and that there is importance in cosmetically altered women scantility dressed for their entertainment."

I am not a prude, but I want my boys to be able to view this kind of material at their leisure when they are old enough...not have it thrust upon them at impressionable ages

So, if anyone goes into their WHSmith this week, can you look out for the stand and note where it is, and email them yourself to complain, if its next to somewhere where kids will go, ie next to a stand targetted specifically at children/next to the sweets ???

The email address is customer.relations@whsmith.co.uk

Seven things about me

Here are the rules:"Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those tagged need to write in their blogs the 7 facts, as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog."

My seven things:

1) I have a *thing* about hanging out my washing. It all has to be put out in order, tee shirts, L/S tees, then trousers...etc (all in person order too...) I never hang out my underwear.
2) I am a Rock Chick...
3) Although not *girly*, I love shoes and handbags...they have to be my "style" though :)
4) I have more "friends" on the 'net than I do in real life.
5) I have knitted stuff since I was about 4, and am a real fibre snob. This is due to not being able to handle a lot of fibres due to having very sensitive skin.
6) I went to boarding school at the age 11 and stayed till I was 18
7) I am vegetarian

I am not going to tag anyone, but I have done this meme because Yoshimi tagged me, and she's my friend....in real life...*gasps*

Gala

Finished these off earlier...quite bright arn't they? *grin*
They are a custom order, large rise and medium legs....I am very pleased with them actually, as I was a bit dubious about my colour choices to begin with, but once I started knitting, they just came together :D

***Waves***

Hello Blogland.......I am here, honest...just not enough hours in the day at the moment......!!!! Things seem to be going at 100mph here, and that is no exaggeration.....!!!
The first piece of really BIG news is that we've put an offer in on a house, in the cul-de-sac just round the corner from where we are now.....we saw it Wednesday last week, had it surveyed on the Thursday, and made an offer (which was accepted) on the Friday!!!
Its so exciting!
The village where we are has a good reputation, this estate especially, so we had to move on it quickly. The survey picked up a couple of things that we'll need to get sorted out, so our offer reflected that.
So I've had estate agents round here valuing ours, we've been to the bank...phew!!!
The thing we need to now is declutter, and get rid of all the stuff we've hoarded over the past 7 years we've lived here... he he he...thats gonna be fun. So it ebaycarbootcharityshop-tastic here....or it will be soon enough.
Still knitting as fast as my little hands can go though...heres a few bits I've been doing over the past week or so...

These are a pair of customised pants, for a customer with a very heavy overnight wetter...they are the same length front and back, because her baby has to wear a huge nappy :)

These are a pair of 3/4 length longies....they turned out so well :)

Urrrgh blaaah

Have been feeling really "Urrrgh blaaah" all week, no inclination for anything at all...even my knitting has suffered (which is bad) as I have people waiting for stuff...
Been sickening for something too, which is the reason for the urrrgh blaaah...which has reared its ugly head now...so hopefully its on the way out. Aching, coughing, snotting (you know the drill)...having to look after the house, run about after 2 kids all whilst feeling urrrgh blaaah... *sigh* Although I wouldn't want to be anything but a mother, the drawbacks of this Gig are huge with respect to urrrgh blaaah...you can't just say f**k it, I am staying in bed till this goes away...
Was my husband's birthday yesterday, and I went to bed at 10pm, 'cos I was just dead on my feet....don't think he was very impressed, but what can I say? And today, my kids have been invited to their cousin's birthday party at TwinLakes Park in Melton Mowbray, and again I've had to cry off...not because I don't want to go, but because I can't physically do it. if I am to make any kind of recovery I have to rest....
I hate Urrrgh blaaah......
