My Dad was in his local paper :)

He's a bit of a local celebrity in Barrow-in-Furness is my Dad... :)
If you click on the image, you should be able to read the article, all about his experiences of working in the Tannery in Ulverston, that was owned by our Family.

Today was Shed Day!!!

My shed arrived this morning, at 7.45am...on the back of a beeeg lorry. There were also lovely fellas to put it up :) The company we got it from are called Hanson's , a family run business, and the guys who fitted it were Steve (stripy jumper) and his uncle Phil :)
Leetle Forklift!!
The construction didn't go as smoothly as we'd have hoped, but, do these things ever go as planned? There was a *huge* gust of wind, and it shoved two panels over, and they smashed. Nothing that the guys could have done to prevent it, it was just an unfortunate act of nature :(

Steve and Phil were taking no chances!!

This is the side view......

....and this is the view from the front of the house, they will come back asap and fit a new panel to replace the smashed one, as their customer service has been second to none so far!!

I can haz a shed!!!!

All we have to do now is get it all fitted out inside, and Babylonglegs will be rocking and a rolling into a new and exciting future!!!

Big pile o' Yarrrrn :)

I have been working on my first order for a "Proper" bricks and Mortar shop this week. The shop is called "...Have You any Wool" (there are some pics of the shop here on their blog)
The shop is located in Swansea, and used to be called "Mumbles"......
I thought the amount of yarn I've dyed would look great pictured, for posterity, on the newly~laid concrete base which will soon have my studio on it.....

Kettle-dyed Awesome!

"PetrolHead"

"Toffee Apple"

"Goblin's Apprentice"

This is what I did yesterday..... ***grins***
I am trying to hone my kettle-dyeing skills, to make the patterns slightly similar on all the skeins in one dyelot. The whole process is meant to be random, and the colours are very unpredictable, but they are pretty similar across the board....
And the colours are just so rich and deep and AWESOME!!!
These are going into my shop tonight :)

More shed progress :)

Raw materials

Waterproof membrane lining

Craig the poser (he took his top off for this photo!) and his girlfriend, Jane, who is doing all the hard work ;)

We can haz a concrete base!!!

Shed Progress

This is the side of our house before any work has been done. The shed is going to be located in between the back door and the side gate, and as high as the outside light (approx) It's going to be a lean to......so we had to have the external gas pipe heightened.

The builder blocked up the outside cupboards first, and then today came back and lifted all the concrete slabs, so that he can come back in the morning and fill the hole with 4 inches of concrete. A waterproof membrane will go down first, to stop any rising damp, and then the concrete next :) Luckily for us all, there's already a layer of slabs underneath the existing ones, so there's a good base there already.

The shed is being constructed on the 18th November.......so it's becoming a reality now!!!
I am so excited......I can take Babylonglegs to the next level in 2010!!!
I wouldn't have been able to do it without the huge amount of support I get from my family, and also from all of you guys, buying my stuff and making me work really hard all the time ;)
