We went to Holy Rood Parish Camp over the Bank holiday weekend........we went last year too, and I think its definitely going to become a tradition :) We all had a fab time, it was a deserved "time out" from all the house madness......

We pitched our tent on Friday afternoon, and left on Monday afternoon.....

Whirlwind Week :)

This is the first time I've had 5 minutes to sit and blog for ages......

We've been working really hard on the house, and we are definitely getting somewhere now, thank goodness. 2 of the bedrooms are completely stripped of wallpaper, ready to be re-decorated, and Phil has started papering the lounge. We've had a plumber in to look around, as a few radiators need re-siting and thermostats need fitting to all of them too. He originally came to do a quote for a new boiler, but I don't think we'll have the money for that just now. I've also had a very good quote from the local carpet company, for 3 bedrooms, upstairs hall and stairs...so that will all be done after the plumber has been in and we've re-decorated.

We got rid of the kids on Friday..... *grin*

The went to stay with family, and are both coming back today. Its been great to have a few child free days, and our feet havn't touched the floor! We went out on Friday night, spent all day Saturday at the new house, went out all day to a car show at Belvoir Castle which was great :)
Of course, I took my knitting ;) It caused a great deal of amusement...... hehehe

Sent Hubby to the shop to buy Sugar soap.....

.......and he came back with this *rolls eyes*

What a pile!

This is everything we ripped out of the two main upstairstairs bedrooms...and all the carpets....the door you see is the door leading to the kitchen :)

Kitchen

We thought we might be able to save the kitchen from removal, but the units and the cooker hood have had to go :(
We're going to completely rebuild the cooker side of it, new doors and carcasses where the appliance holes are....and new worktop all round. We're also going to paint the tiles a different colour, and hopefully get a new piece of lino for the floor. That should make it liveable-in... *fingers crossed*

Front room

Here are some pics of the front room.....Top one is wallpaper off, lining paper still there, the middle one is what it looked like before I stripped the all the wallpaper offand the bottom one is with all the paper off...

Simpsonised :)

My brilliant boys :)

So, today was Day 1 of the clearout.....
.......we dismantled all the fitted furniture in both bedrooms (and there was loads, we almost doubled the space in the front bedroom by doing it!)
....took out all of the carpets
....stripped the majority of the wallpaper off in the front bedroom

Our kids were there, every step of the way, helping us at every turn. We took carcasses down, they dismantled them (with electric screwdrivers, they liked that *grins*) they sprayed the walls, and helped with stripping.....

My brilliant boys.....it was such a family effort today.....we had so much fun.

I will take photos tomorrow, so you can see how much we've pulled out!

Footie anyone?

Picked up the keys to our new house today.....
This is a photoshopped panorama of the garden.....
So much to do....
Within 1/2 an hour of being in there.....we'd stripped all the wallpaper out of the downstairs living area, its the kind that comes off really easily and leaves its own lining paper......
Tomorrow ii ripping out of fitted wardrobes and pulling up of carpets day. We need to clear it, so we know what we're working with...to make it liveable for us. Don't get me wrong...its fine, just smells a bit...so I reckonned removing all the horrid carpet and paper etc will help to eradicate the smell of aromatic spices.... :)
Phil went round there after dinner, as Dan didn't really get a good look this afternoon, as he had a party to go to. They had a proper kickabout...and Phil said he'd been waiting to do that for weeks......
Makes the whole ordeal worth it when the kids are happy..... *wink*
