Halloween - reskeined

Doesn't it look great!!!! I am so pleased with it......
Who'd have thought an experiment with overdyeing would turn out so flippin' well...might try it with some other stuff *grin*
I tell you though, I am geting old. This loss of an hour has really hit me hard...I am shattered today. Doesn't help that I had some really horrible dreams last night...woke up terrified at one point :(
I have so much work on this week as well, 3 custom orders, and I also have to re-stock my shop on Puddlepants
No rest for the wicked, eh?

Had a clear out of my stash cupboard today.....

........and found some 2 oz balls of Aran/chunky vintage Sirdar Pullman yarn in Orange, that I bought off eBay eons ago. As I was boxing everything up, I had a thought....how about overdyeing it with red and black and making a colourway suitable for a Halloween!!!! So I skeined it all up, felting 2 balls together to make 2 x 4oz skeins and this is the result!!! Plus i felt this was a way of being frugal, and having fun with something already in my stash...as I have spent rather a lot of money on yarn this month *blush*
The red is food dye, and the black is Ashford dye. I did the red first, then I made up a dye bath in my big jam making pot and got it going on the stove, and as the handle of the jam making pot locks upright, I hung the skeins over it so the were dipped in the dyebath.
I am loving the Ashford dyes....I am definitely going to invest in some more colours......
Ooh, and some great news.....Gemma has *finally* opened here wool shop!!! Its called Krafty Koalas and its full of lovely YUMMY handpainted yarns.......
I am proud to say I was her first customer....bought 200g of Aran at 12.20am this morning.....hehehehe

Smith....customised by me :)

Knitted for my Mum for Mothers Day (yes I know I'm almost a week late *sigh*)
They are out of Noro Knits and are supposed to be knee high. I customised them as I didn't have enough of the hand dyed..... ;) The cuffs and toes are done in Jaeger Matchmaker aran (Dark purple) and the main body is BFL aran....

Which Tarot Card are you?

You are the World

Completion, Good Reward.

The World is the final card of the Major Arcana, and as such represents saturnian energies, time, and completion.

The World card pictures a dancer in a Yoni (sometimes made of laurel leaves). The Yoni symbolizes the great Mother, the cervix through which everything is born, and also the doorway to the next life after death. It is indicative of a complete circle. Everything is finally coming together, successfully and at last. You will get that Ph.D. you've been working for years to complete, graduate at long last, marry after a long engagement, or finish that huge project. This card is not for little ends, but for big ones, important ones, ones that come with well earned cheers and acknowledgements. Your hard work, knowledge, wisdom, patience, etc, will absolutely pay-off; you've done everything right.

Tardis...the FO!!!!!!

Wow.... I never thought I would get it done in time....its taken me about 20 hours all in all......PHEW!!!! I couldn't have finished it though, without the help of my DH :) I chose really heavyweight fabric to make it, as I wanted it to look "boxy" and keep its shape, and it was so heavy, it took him supporting its weight whilst I sewed. He was going to go out tonight as well, but cried off at the last minute. I can just see it now, me sitting on my own trying to sew it, roaring and swearing my head off at it.... hehehehe
But its finished, just in time for my youngest son's 4th birthday tomorrow.....
I have certainly earned my day off on Mothering Sunday this week...I can tell you!!! I'll have made 3 cakes, orgainsed 2 parties......
Its a Mum's Life :)

Pride of my SkipNorth Stash

As promised, a better photo of the most beautiful handspun Woolly Wormhead wool...its gorgeous....cannot wait to start knitting with it...going to make a hat... *grin*

Feeling inspired by Spring .:*~*THE RESULTS*~*:.

Dyed this up yesterday, and as it was such a nice day, it only needed an overnight finishing in the airing cupboard!
I ordered a few Ashford Wool Dyes las week, from Twist Fibre Craft as they were quite reasonably priced, and the purple is one of those. It was so easy to work with too, you only need an extra two minute zap in the microwave, and I just used my usual method for the rest of it. The rest are food grade dyes....
I am reaaly please with how it has turned out, the colours are so vibrant!!!!

Tardis...a WIP :)

Its all pinned up and ready to be sewn!!! Its going to be a playhouse that fits over my square dining room table, as a birthday present for my youngest son.
I did the letters in felt, and ironed double sided interfacing to the back (Bonda-web...great stuff!)...cutting them all out and doing that took 2 hours.....
All I have to do now, is sew all the panels on, and the windows/panels with the writing on, which I will do tomorrow night. Then I need to get some ribbon to go around the windows/panels on Wednesday when I go into town, then attatch that on Wednesday, and hopefully get it all sewn together Weds night or maybe Thursday....I am quite chuffed with it actually Well, thats considering I am not really a sewer....

Its keeping me from my knitting though....

Feeling inspired by Spring

I took this picture of a planter in my garden yesterday, full of daffodils and crocuses. I feel really inspired to create a colourway using these colours, so I ordered some Ashford Dyes from TwistFibre Art, as I can't get a really vivid purple using food dyes.
Oooh...only 2 days until SkipNorth!!!!

Been away......but now I am back!!!

Had poorlypootah-itis.... but now we are all better, or so it seems...hehehe
So I had lots of time to knit, and I am also making a playhouse that fits over my dining room table for my youngest's birthday next week. Its pretty much all cut out, just need to blitz the fabric shops on Wednesday to buy some bits and bobs. I am attempting to re-create The Tardis :o)
Oooh......4 days to go until SkipNorth!!!! I am quite excited....
Okay, so lets make that VERY excited. Friday to Sunday, shopping for yarn and talking nothing but knitting with a huge group of knitters...
Does it GET any better than that????
